In a recent operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) successfully identified and took control of a hidden Hamas military outpost in Gaza City. This discovery revealed a cache of anti-tank launchers, missiles, weapons, and intelligence materials, as reported by The Times of Israel.
According to the IDF, Israeli warplanes targeted a group of approximately 10 Hamas members, guided by ground troops from the Nahal Brigade who pinpointed the target and coordinated an aerial strike on the outpost. Subsequently, the soldiers detected an anti-tank squad operating nearby and directed an additional airstrike, as detailed in their statement.
The Israel Air Force also provided information, stating, “An Air Force fighter jet attacked a squad of about 10 terrorists in cooperation with the fighters of the Nahal Brigade who identified the squad and directed the attack. Later, the fighters identified an anti-tank squad that was operating near them and directed another Air Force aircraft that attacked the squad.”
During the operation, the IDF targeted numerous locations used for mortar launches into Israel, both from the ground and the sea. Israel’s naval forces joined in the effort, striking several Hamas targets overnight, as per The Times of Israel’s report.
Notably, the Israeli military identified a group of Hamas terrorists barricaded in a building near the Al-Quds Hospital in the Shejaiya area of Gaza City. According to the IDF, these individuals were in the midst of planning an attack on Israeli ground forces. An aerial attack was swiftly executed, resulting in “significant secondary explosions,” which indicated the presence of a weapons depot, as reported by The Times of Israel.
In an earlier statement, the IDF reminded that it had been one month since the attack initiated by Hamas on October 7. The IDF stressed the ongoing necessity of addressing this conflict, saying, “It’s been a month since the October 7 Massacre. While the world might have moved on, we don’t have that privilege. Hamas started this war–yet it’s a war we must fight. A war we must win.”
Furthermore, the Israel Defense Forces announced the elimination of Hamas’ Deir al-Balah battalion commander, Wael Asefa, highlighting his involvement in dispatching terrorists to assault, abduct, and harm Israeli civilians on October 7.
On Monday, the IDF disclosed that extensive operations had been conducted in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, targeting around 450 Hamas-related objectives, including tunnels, terrorist positions, military facilities, observation posts, and anti-tank missile launch sites, according to media reports.
Additionally, the IDF confirmed the capture of a Hamas military compound within Gaza, which included observation posts, training facilities for Hamas operatives, and underground tunnels.
The IDF stated, “Over the last day, IDF fighter jets struck over 450 Hamas targets, including tunnels, terrorists, military compounds, observation posts, anti-tank missile launch posts, and more. Overnight, IDF ground troops took control of a Hamas military compound in the Gaza Strip. The compound contains observation posts, training areas for Hamas operatives, and underground terror tunnels.”
These actions reflect a significant offensive by the Israeli military, both above and below ground, targeting Hamas infrastructure and leadership. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson, emphasized the intensity of the operation, which was initiated in response to a previous Hamas attack that resulted in the loss of 1,400 lives in Israel on October 7.
