India Establishes High-Level Committee Following US Alerts on Terrorist-Criminal Nexus

Published on

India responded to security concerns raised by the US by forming a high-level inquiry committee. Arindam Bagchi, the MEA spokesperson, confirmed that the US shared information about a nexus involving organized criminals, gun traffickers, and terrorists. The two countries acknowledged the seriousness of these inputs and initiated necessary investigations.

Bagchi emphasized India’s commitment to national security and mentioned that relevant departments were actively examining the matter. In response, the Indian government established a high-level Enquiry Committee on November 18, tasked with investigating the issues flagged by the US.

The move follows reports from Western media outlets about the US disrupting an alleged plot to eliminate Khalistani separatist-terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on American soil. Singh, associated with the Sikhs for Justice group and designated as a terrorist in India, did not receive official confirmation from the US Justice Department or the FBI regarding these claims.
