The leaders also paved the way for joint government discussions on the utilization of artificial intelligence, alongside the establishment of a working group dedicated to counternarcotics cooperation.

The Xinhua news agency reported that Xi and Biden reached a consensus on Wednesday to resume high-level military communication “on the basis of equality and respect.” This move reflects a commitment to fostering open and constructive dialogue between the two nations on crucial military matters.

Xi Jinping conveyed to President Biden that China’s intentions are not to surpass or unseat the United States, emphasizing that both nations should engage on equal terms without attempts to suppress or contain each other. He underlined China’s commitment to forging its own path, steering clear of colonization, plunder, and hegemony, particularly as the country continues to strengthen.

Additionally, Xi issued a warning to Washington, expressing dissatisfaction with sanctions and other measures imposed on Chinese firms. He highlighted the detrimental impact of such actions on China’s legitimate interests, emphasizing that limitations on China’s science and technology hinder the nation’s high-quality development and deprive its citizens of their right to progress.
