Dedicated to ensuring a secure user experience, WhatsApp has been diligently working on enhancing its safety features. The latest development involves the testing of the Chat Lock feature on the web version, complementing its existing availability on mobile devices.

A recent update highlighted by WABetaInfo unveils the imminent addition of a “Chat Lock” icon to the web version of WhatsApp. This small padlock icon will be prominently featured in the app’s sidebar, offering users the ability to safeguard their secret chats and organize new conversations within a secure, locked folder—an exclusive digital haven for private discussions.

The Chat Lock feature in WhatsApp introduces an advanced tool to fortify the protection of individual chats. Users can now lock specific conversations, discreetly storing them in a secluded folder accessible only to them. Imagine having a confidential space for your chats, ensuring exclusive access.

The latest WhatsApp update introduces a new icon, resembling a padlock, in the sidebar—an indication of the upcoming Chat Lock feature’s integration. This signifies that users will soon have the capability to employ this privacy-enhancing tool not just on their mobile phones but also on the web version of WhatsApp.

Here’s how it operates: Once a chat is locked, it no longer appears on the regular chat screen; instead, it is securely tucked away in a concealed folder. To retrieve these locked chats, users will need to utilize their phone’s screen lock or, on the web, a secure passcode. This additional layer of security guarantees exclusive access to private conversations.

The web version is anticipated to incorporate a passkey system, mirroring the security protocol already in place for mobile app chats. Despite the ongoing development, expectations are high for a sleek design update accompanying the web app’s release. Once deployed, the Chat Lock feature in WhatsApp will prove invaluable for users prioritizing privacy, providing an additional safeguard for their confidential exchanges.

This tool emerges as an essential asset, particularly for individuals seeking a secure platform to discuss private matters without the risk of unwanted access.
