Logitech Logi Dock: Your Ultimate All-in-One Workstation Companion

Published on

Logitech’s Logi Dock has taken the concept of a docking station to a new level. It’s not just a docking station; it’s an all-in-one conferencing device, a premium speaker, and a versatile hub for your workspace. However, with a price tag of Rs 55,000 (excluding taxes), is the Logi Dock worth the investment for your professional setup? In this comprehensive review, we explore its design, connectivity, features, and performance to help you make an informed decision.

Design: A Premium and Sleek Addition to Your Workspace

The Logi Dock stands out with its sleek and modern design. Available in graphite or white, it exudes an air of sophistication. We had the white model, which adds a touch of elegance to any workspace. The docking station features rubberized feet at the bottom to ensure stability.

One of its unique design elements is the illuminated bottom that lights up when you have incoming calls, adding a subtle yet functional touch. Measuring 131.5mm in thickness, 160mm in width, and 84.8mm in height, the Logi Dock weighs just under a kilogram. It resembles a premium portable speaker, designed to blend seamlessly into your professional setup.

The dock is primarily constructed from textured plastic and is encased in fabric on three sides, showcasing the ‘Logi’ branding on the front. The docking station is angled upward to optimize audio direction. Overall, the Logi Dock’s premium build quality and thoughtful design make it an aesthetically pleasing addition to your workspace.

Connectivity: A Hub of Versatility

When it comes to connectivity, the Logi Dock doesn’t disappoint. Most of its ports are conveniently located on the back, including two USB Type-A 3.1 Gen 1 ports, two USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 ports, a power delivery port, a Kensington lock slot, a USB Type-C port for the primary connection, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a DisplayPort 1.4. Additionally, there’s another USB Type-C port on the side, offering added flexibility.

The front of the Logi Dock features five touch-sensitive buttons, including a microphone button, two volume buttons, and a button to disable a connected webcam. The circular button in the middle can be used to answer or reject calls. The device also supports Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless connectivity.

Features: Multifunctional Powerhouse

The Logi Dock offers a range of impressive features. It supports dual 4K monitors with a 60Hz refresh rate and HDR support, making it perfect for multitasking and boosting your productivity. Additionally, it can provide up to 100W of power to charge laptops requiring up to 85W of power, eliminating the need for a separate laptop charger. The USB Type-C port on the side is handy for charging your smartphone.

Designed for seamless integration with video conferencing platforms, the Logi Dock is certified for use with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and Google Voice, making it an ideal choice for remote work and virtual meetings. It also boasts compatibility with most common calling systems.

Performance: Impressive Audio Quality

The Logi Dock delivers remarkable sound quality, easily filling a conference room. While we didn’t test it in a large conference room, we used it in a mid-sized hall with approximately 10 people, and the audio output was more than sufficient, even during conversations.

Featuring 55mm neodymium audio drivers in an anti-vibration acoustic enclosure, the Logi Dock enhances bass performance. You can fine-tune the sound manually using the LogiTune app or choose from preset sound modes like Default, Podcast, and Bass Boost, catering to your specific needs.

At higher volumes, the Logi Dock produces rich bass, making it an impressive speaker for entertainment purposes. Even at elevated volumes, we didn’t encounter any audio distortion, and the dock offered a wide soundstage with remarkable depth, considering its size and primary functionality.

While its audio quality makes it a compelling choice for entertainment, the Logi Dock truly shines in the realm of conferencing. Equipped with six built-in noise-canceling, beamforming microphones, it excels in picking up voices clearly, even when placed at the back of a desk. This feature proves invaluable for conference calls, as it allows all participants at a table to contribute without repositioning the dock. Furthermore, the Logi Dock effectively suppresses background noise, ensuring crystal-clear voice transmission.

Even in the presence of distractions like a mechanical keyboard and ambient noise from an open window and a running fan, the Logi Dock’s remarkable audio quality ensures your voice comes through clearly, free from muffling or distortion.

Software: Enhanced Functionality with Logi Tune App

The Logi Dock can be paired with your PC, laptop, or smartphone via Bluetooth. However, for an optimized experience, it’s recommended to use the Logi Tune app. This app is compatible with Windows 10, macOS 11 or later, Chromebooks, and Android or iOS devices.

The Logi Tune app offers several functionalities, including calendar syncing for meeting reminders and alerts, equalizer controls for sound adjustments, and preset modes for different audio experiences. It also serves as a platform for firmware updates, sound quality testing, and microphone volume adjustments. The app is user-friendly and provides convenient customization options.

Verdict: A Valuable Addition to Your Professional Setup

The Logi Dock is an impressive all-in-one docking station that serves as an exceptional entertainment companion and a powerful conferencing tool. While its price is on the higher side, its value becomes apparent when you utilize its full range of features.

With outstanding audio quality, support for external accessories, and efficient power delivery, the Logi Dock can be an indispensable part of your professional workspace. Additionally, its reminder feature is a convenient tool for managing your schedule.

However, it’s important to note that the Logi Dock lacks Thunderbolt support and isn’t compatible with other Bluetooth devices. Furthermore, it lacks a 3.5mm audio jack and an Ethernet port.

In summary, if you’re seeking an all-in-one conferencing device for your professional work setup that also doubles as a versatile speaker for entertainment and music playback, the Logi Dock is an excellent choice, provided you can overlook its premium price tag.
