iQOO 12: India’s First Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-Powered Smartphone Set to Debut

The much-anticipated iQOO 12 is poised to become the first smartphone in India to be powered by the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Recently unveiled in China, the iQOO 12 and iQOO 12 Pro have generated a buzz in the world of mobile technology with their top-tier hardware, enhanced design, and the inclusion of Android 14 OS-based OriginOS. It’s now official that the iQOO 12 is slated for launch in India on December 12.

The iQOO 12 boasts a generous 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED display with an impressive 1.5K resolution. On the other hand, the iQOO 12 Pro takes it up a notch with a 6.78-inch curved E7 AMOLED screen, offering a stunning 2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Both devices are being hailed as “Future eSports flagships” and come equipped with a large vapor chamber for enhanced gaming experiences. RAM and storage options are plentiful, ranging from 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of internal storage in the base variants, to a remarkable 16 GB of RAM and a whopping 1 TB of internal storage. Notably, these smartphones feature a stereo speaker setup, with the earpiece serving as the secondary speaker.

The camera setup on both models is identical, featuring a powerful triple-camera array at the rear. This comprises a 50 MP wide-angle lens, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 64 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, complemented by support for up to 100x digital zoom. For selfies and video recording, a 16 MP front camera is in place.

Dual SIM card slots, both supporting 5G connectivity, make these devices versatile. Furthermore, they offer Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connectivity for seamless networking.

In the battery department, the iQOO 12 is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports rapid 120W fast charging. Meanwhile, the iQOO 12 Pro features a slightly larger 5,100 mAh battery, with support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. However, it’s worth noting that despite their flagship status, the USB-C port on these smartphones is limited to USB 2.0 for data transfer.

Pricing in China starts at 3,999 Yuan, which is approximately Rs 45,700, for the base model of the iQOO 12 with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Similarly, the base variant of the iQOO 12 Pro is priced at 4,999 Yuan, or approximately Rs 57,150. Indian smartphone enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing the power and features of the iQOO 12, as it makes its debut with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in December 2023.
