Google has taken the wraps off its highly anticipated Pixel 8 series, unleashing a wave of excitement among tech enthusiasts worldwide. Comprising the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, this series introduces groundbreaking features and a powerful new Tensor G3 SoC. In this article, we dive into the details of what the Pixel 8 series brings to the table.

Pricing and Color Options:

The Pixel 8 series enters the market with attractive pricing and a spectrum of color choices:

  • Google Pixel 8 (8GB/128GB): Starting at $699 (approximately Rs 58,200).
  • Google Pixel 8 Pro (8GB/128GB): Beginning at $999 (approximately Rs 83,200).

The Pixel 8 Pro offers a color palette featuring Blue, Obsidian, and Beige variants, while the Pixel 8 comes in elegant Hazel, Obsidian, or Rose shades. Furthermore, Google has sweetened the deal by offering complimentary Pixel Buds Pro with Pixel 8 purchases and a free Pixel Watch 2 with Pixel 8 Pro acquisitions. Indian pricing and availability are yet to be announced.

Google Pixel 8 Pro: Powerhouse Redefined:

The Pixel 8 Pro is armed with the formidable Tensor G3 SoC, housing nine cores. This includes a Cortex-X3 prime core, four Cortex-A715 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores. Accompanying this powerhouse is a substantial 5,050 mAh battery, supporting 30W wired fast charging and 23W wireless fast charging. It’s important to note that no adapter is included in the box.

The device boasts a mesmerizing 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED display, delivering a peak brightness of 2,400 nits. Its adaptive 120Hz refresh rate (ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz) ensures a seamless user experience. Equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on both front and back panels, the Pixel 8 Pro stands as a symbol of durability and sophistication.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the triple-camera setup on the back, featuring a 50 MP Octa-PD sensor with OIS, a new 48 MP Quad-PD ultrawide lens, and a 48 MP Quad-PD telephoto-periscope lens capable of 5x optical zoom and 30x Super-Res digital zoom. On the front, a 10.5 MP selfie camera awaits. A unique addition is the skin temperature sensor, dedicated solely to temperature reading. Enhanced Pro Controls amplify the camera capabilities. The device runs Android 14 out of the box, complemented by a free VPN from Google One and a commitment to seven years of OS and regular security updates.

Google Pixel 8: A Compact Powerhouse:

The standard Pixel 8 packs the same Tensor G3 SoC as its Pro counterpart. It opts for a slightly smaller 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate, smoothly transitioning between 60Hz and 120Hz. Gorilla Glass Victus protection ensures screen durability.

Photography enthusiasts can explore a dual-camera setup on the back, comprising a 50 MP primary Octa-PD sensor with 8x Super-Res digital zoom and a 12 MP ultrawide lens with AF and Macro capabilities. The 10.5 MP selfie camera mirrors the Pro model. The device features an in-display fingerprint reader, boasts an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and houses a 4,575 mAh battery with 27W wired fast charging and 18W wireless charging support. Similar to the Pro model, the adapter is not included in the box. The Pixel 8 is powered by Android 14 and enjoys the same extended software support.

The Google Pixel 8 series showcases Google’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of smartphone technology. With impressive specifications, adaptive displays, and advanced camera systems, these devices are poised to redefine your smartphone experience.
