Key Features:

  1. Availability: Initially, Circle to Search will be accessible on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and Google’s Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, later extending to other premium Android phones.
  2. User-Friendly Functionality: The feature eliminates the need for taking screenshots and switching between apps, streamlining the search experience for users.

How Circle to Search Works: To utilize Circle to Search, users can long-press the home button or navigation handle, depending on their device’s navigation settings. This feature appears on top of the current app or screen, enabling users to circle, tap, or highlight a subject, whether it’s text or images. This effective tool isolates the subject of a search, providing instant and relevant results.

Circle to Search vs. Google Lens: While Circle to Search shares similarities with Google Lens, there are key distinctions. Unlike Lens, Circle to Search doesn’t require opening the Google app and can be utilized anywhere on the device. It enhances the search process by eliminating the need for screenshots, app closures, and image selections, making information retrieval more efficient and user-friendly.

Updated Multisearch Feature: In addition to Circle to Search, Google has enhanced its multisearch feature within Google Lens.

Users can now ask complex questions to refine their visual searches, providing more in-depth information about their queries. For instance, after taking a picture of a plant, users can inquire, “How often should I water this?” This update is available in the Google app for Android and iOS devices in the US.

Google’s Circle to Search and the updated multisearch feature represent a significant leap in making information retrieval quicker, simpler, and more personalized for users.
