Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh lauded the Indian cricket icon for this remarkable achievement, emphasizing that Virat’s century on his birthday was the “biggest gift” he could have given to India. Speaking exclusively to India Today, Harbhajan Singh remarked that it was almost destined for Kohli to reach this milestone on his special day.

Kohli’s century, which drew him level with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI centuries record, was a testament to his unwavering commitment to the team. Harbhajan Singh highlighted Kohli’s remarkable fitness and dedication, suggesting that he is poised to set numerous more records in the future.

The former spinner acknowledged the challenging conditions presented by the batting wicket and commended Kohli for his ability to anchor the innings. Scoring 101 runs off 121 balls, Kohli showcased his prowess with ten boundaries, steering India to a competitive total.

Harbhajan Singh emphasized that Kohli’s commitment to the team’s success transcends individual records, making him a true champion. He underlined the importance of Kohli’s presence throughout the innings, especially on a challenging wicket where newcomers found it difficult to settle and play their shots.

In addition to this milestone, Virat Kohli also surpassed the renowned Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara in terms of runs scored in ODI World Cups, elevating him to the prestigious position of the third-highest run-scorer in the history of this prestigious competition.
