Indian cricket team’s ace batsman, Virat Kohli, and Bollywood sensation Anushka Sharma rejoiced as their adorable daughter Vamika turned three on Thursday.
Despite Vamika accompanying her parents on numerous international tours, the couple has been steadfast in their decision to keep her away from the social media limelight. Kohli, in 2021, candidly explained their choice, affirming that they intend to shield Vamika from the digital world until she comprehends it and can make her own choices.
In a recent development, Kohli, set to make a comeback in the T20I setup after the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, will miss the inaugural match of the three-game series against Afghanistan.
The T20I series between India and Afghanistan is scheduled to commence on January 11 in Mohali, followed by the second match on January 14 in Indore, and concluding on January 17 in Bengaluru.
During the pre-match press conference, head coach Rahul Dravid confirmed Kohli’s absence in the opener due to personal reasons. He revealed that Yashasvi Jaiswal would partner with captain Rohit Sharma as the opening duo. Despite the initial setback, Kohli is slated to feature in the last two matches of the T20I series.
Dravid emphasized that, with only one T20I series before the T20 World Cup in 2024, player performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will significantly influence the squad selection for the tournament.
India’s Squad for the three T20Is against Afghanistan includes Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Mukesh Kumar.
