In the ongoing unofficial Test tour by the England Lions in India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has strategically bolstered the India ‘A’ squad by adding proficient batter Rinku Singh for the upcoming second four-day match in Ahmedabad on January 24.
In an official statement, the BCCI Men’s Selection Committee expressed, “The Men’s Selection Committee has added Rinku Singh to India ‘A’ squad for the second four-day match against England Lions to be played in Ahmedabad from 24th January.”
The leadership of the India ‘A’ squad in the multi-day encounters will be entrusted to domestic cricket sensation Abhimanyu Easwaran. Rinku Singh, who was initially slated for the third match commencing on February 1, is now set to contribute to the team’s performance in the second match.
Boasting an impressive track record, the 26-year-old Rinku Singh has accumulated 3109 runs in 44 first-class matches, maintaining a remarkable average of 57.57. His record includes seven centuries and 20 half-centuries, showcasing his prowess with the bat.
The India ‘A’ squad for the second multi-day encounter comprises Abhimanyu Easwaran as captain, supported by a talented lineup featuring Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Tilak Varma, Kumar Kushagra, Washington Sundar, Sourabh Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Tushar Deshpande, Vidwath Kaverappa, Upendra Yadav, Akash Deep, Yash Dayal, and the recent addition, Rinku Singh.
This strategic move by the BCCI aims to strengthen the team’s batting lineup and enhance their prospects in the upcoming clash against the England Lions, adding excitement and anticipation to the cricketing community.
