In a heartfelt response to India’s loss in the World Cup 2023 final against Australia, pace bowler Mohammed Shami took to social media to express gratitude to the Indian fans and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their unwavering support.

Shami acknowledged the disappointment of the defeat, stating, “Unfortunately yesterday was not our day.” However, he extended his heartfelt thanks to the entire nation for rallying behind Team India and himself throughout the tournament. In a particular note of appreciation, Shami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for visiting the dressing room after the final, lifting the team’s spirits.

Sharing a glimpse from the dressing room, Shami’s tweet conveyed a sense of determination, asserting, “We will bounce back!” The post reflects Shami’s positive outlook and resilience in the face of adversity.

In the intense final at Narendra Modi Stadium, Australian batsman Travis Head played a stellar innings, scoring an impressive 137 runs to lead Australia to their sixth World Cup title. Despite the setback, Shami’s focus remains on the team’s ability to rebound.

India’s journey in ICC events over the past decade has witnessed various challenges, including defeats in the 2014 World T20 final, 2016 World T20 semifinal, 2017 Champions Trophy final, 2019 ODI World Cup semifinal, 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal, and consecutive runner-up finishes in the 2021 and 2023 World Test Championship cycles.
