The Serbian maestro triumphed with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-3, 7-6, advancing his quest for an unprecedented 11th Australian Open title this year.

Djokovic’s Milestones:

  1. 92nd Australian Open Victory: Djokovic notched his 92nd win at the Australian Open, becoming the second player after Roger Federer to surpass the 90-win mark in Melbourne. He holds a remarkable 31-match winning streak at the Australian Open, with an impressive 364-48 win-loss record at Grand Slam events.
  2. 201st Hard-Court Major Match: The top-seeded Djokovic marked his 201st hard-court major match win, a feat achieved after defeating Alexei Popyrin in the second round. In the Open Era, he joins Federer in the elite group of players with 200 or more matches at Grand Slam events, trailing only Federer’s 220 matches. Among active players, Rafael Nadal follows Djokovic with 172 matches.
  3. Dominance Over Etcheverry: Djokovic extended his head-to-head record over Etcheverry to 3-0 in their ATP Tour matches, securing victories at the ATP Masters 1000 Paris and ATP Masters 1000 Rome last year.
  4. Centennial Appearance at Australian Open: Djokovic achieved a unique milestone, playing his 100th match at the Australian Open. This remarkable feat makes him the only men’s player in the Open Era to surpass 100 matches across all four Grand Slam tournaments (Wimbledon 103, US Open 101, French Open 108).

Other Notable Results:

In addition to Djokovic’s stellar performance, 10th seed Alex de Minaur continued his impressive run with a three-set victory over Flavio Cobolli.

De Minaur, having earlier claimed wins over Milos Raonic and Matteo Arnaldi, won 6-3, 6-3, 6-1. Greek sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas also advanced to the round of 16 with a convincing 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 victory over Luca Van Assche.
