India has achieved a remarkable milestone at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, by surpassing its goal of securing 100 medals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the Indian athletes for this extraordinary achievement, emphasizing its significance.
Through his official social media account, PM Modi applauded the outstanding performances of Indian athletes in the ongoing Asian Games and extended his best wishes to them. He recognized their relentless dedication and exceptional talents, which have brought glory to the nation.
As a gesture of appreciation, Prime Minister Modi announced his intention to host the Indian delegation from the Asian Games on October 10. He expressed his desire to personally interact with the athletes who have contributed immensely to India’s success, both individually and as part of various teams.

The Indian women’s kabaddi team played a pivotal role in securing the 100th medal for India by clinching the gold in a thrilling final against Chinese Taipei. The match ended with India maintaining a 14-9 lead throughout, securing their gold medal triumph.
It’s worth noting that in their earlier encounter during the tournament, the Indian and Chinese Taipei teams had played to a draw, with a final score of 34-34. The Indian raiders secured bonus points in the first half, while Chinese Taipei surged ahead in the second half, amassing 16 points. During the latter part of the game, India found themselves trailing by 12 points.
Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur also took to social media to extend his greetings and celebrate this remarkable achievement.
Prominent athlete Ashwini Nachappa hailed the achievement as a great motivator for the upcoming Olympics in 2024 and congratulated Team India for their outstanding performances across various events.
Meanwhile, Archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam, who won three gold medals at the Asian Games, expressed her happiness and satisfaction with her shooting process.
Highlighting the exceptional performance of Indian archers, Indian Archery Team High Performance Director Sanjeeva Singh emphasized that this year, India achieved an unprecedented feat by securing five gold medals in the compound category alone. He attributed this remarkable success to the four years of relentless hard work put in by the athletes and the coaching staff.
