Domestic destinations are witnessing massive footfall, with travelers opting for popular winter getaways like Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Kerala, the Northeast, Goa, and the Andamans. Notably, there’s a trend of unique combinations or inclusions being selected, such as a spiritual trip to the Golden Temple in Amritsar with a local meal and a stay in a farmhouse.

Popular short-haul outbound destinations, including Thailand, Dubai, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Malaysia, are also experiencing high demand during the Republic Day long weekend. This trend is attributed to several nations offering visa-free travel options for Indians.

Increased inquiries for Indian beaches have been noted following the Maldives-Lakshadweep row. Many people are exploring beach destinations in India like Kochi in Kerala and Puducherry in Tamil Nadu. Goa and Andaman remain favorite beach destinations, drawing travelers this long weekend.

The travel industry is currently booming, with the Republic Day falling on a Friday, providing an attractive extended weekend. The industry is experiencing strong demand, up more than 25% year over year, for both domestic and closer-to-home destinations, despite some flights and trains being canceled due to visibility issues this winter.

Multigenerational families, groups of friends, DINKs (Dual income, no kids), and Gen Z are among the top segments driving this increased demand during the Republic Day weekend.
