Popular Tamil actor Vijay has officially stepped into the realm of politics by launching his political party, named “Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam or TVK” (Tamil Nadu Victory Party). The actor, aged 49, made this announcement Today 2nd Feburary 2024, expressing his commitment to contest in the 2026 assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.
In his statement, Vijay described his decision to enter politics as a desire to fulfill his prior film commitments while considering it an expression of gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu. He stated, “I have decided to complete the film I have already committed to, without affecting the party work and completely involve myself in the politics of public service. I consider this as my gratitude towards the people of Tamil Nadu.”

Vijay emphasized that politics is not a mere hobby for him; it is his deepest passion, and he aims to dedicate himself entirely to the cause. He affirmed, “Politics is not a hobby for me; It is my deepest passion, and I want to devote myself fully to it.”
The actor clarified that his party would not participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and they would not extend support to any other party. This decision was reached during the recently held General Council and Executive Council meetings.
