Renowned actor-turned-politician Vijayashanti has raised critical questions about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) curious silence on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s alleged corruption. In a recent statement, she questioned the absence of Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raids on KCR, despite the BJP’s vocal accusations of corruption against him.

Vijayashanti, who recently made a strategic shift to the Congress ahead of the Telangana elections, asserted that KCR is labeled as the “most corrupt politician” by the BJP. However, she claims that the BJP has refrained from taking any concrete action against KCR due to a purported alliance between the two parties. This revelation comes at a crucial time in the Telangana political landscape, as parties gear up for a significant electoral battle.
The veteran Telugu actor pointed out the contradictory stance of BJP leaders who publicly denounce KCR’s alleged corruption during their visits to Telangana but fail to initiate investigative actions. “BJP top leaders come to Telangana and always say KCR is corrupt, his daughter is in a liquor scam, it is a family party. But then they go back to Delhi…there are raids on so many other leaders, but no ED, CBI came to KCR,” Vijayashanti emphasized.
Her decision to join the Congress stems from her belief that the BJP and TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) have joined forces. Vijayashanti, now appointed as the chief coordinator of the campaign and planning committee for the election, expressed her dissatisfaction with the BJP’s removal of Bandi Sanjay Kumar, alleging that it was a move to protect KCR. She criticized the BJP for its internal decisions, stating, “This is not fair. BJP spoiled their own party after they removed Mr. Sanjay. We are not responsible for the disaster that BJP became in Telangana.”
Vijayashanti’s political journey has seen her affiliating with multiple parties, including the BJP, TRS, and Congress. Despite her party-hopping history, she has consistently voiced her concerns about governance and accountability. Her current focus on exposing the alleged nexus between the BJP and TRS reflects her commitment to transparent and ethical politics.
As a veteran in the film industry, Vijayashanti’s transition into politics adds depth to her perspective. With a notable career in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam films, including her National Film Award-winning role in “Kartavyam,” Vijayashanti brings a unique blend of cinematic and political experience to the forefront. Her bold statements and principled stance continue to shape the narrative in the lead-up to the Telangana elections.
