Currently, the region faces a challenge as only two trains operate between these stations, with one running in the morning from Dehradun and the other, the Kathgodam-Dehradun Express, operating exclusively at night.
The proposed Kathgodam-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express is set to operate during the day, catering to the needs of passengers who prefer daytime travel. This initiative aims to alleviate the difficulties faced by locals seeking convenient daytime transportation options.
Simultaneously, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, G. Kishan Reddy, flagged off the extension of three train services in Andhra Pradesh. The extended services include the Visakhapatnam-Guntur Visakhapatnam Uday Express, Narsapur-Hubballi Narsapur Amravati Express, and Nandyal-Renigunta-Nandyal Special Train. These extensions are expected to benefit the people of Andhra Pradesh by enhancing connectivity and providing additional facilities.
Minister Reddy highlighted that the extension of Uday Express facilitates direct connectivity between Guntur and Visakhapatnam, offering both AC and non-AC coaches with convenient journey timings. The Narsapur-Hubballi Express is anticipated to enhance travel options between coastal Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Additionally, the Nandyal-Renigunta special train is designed to assist pilgrim passengers on their journey to the Lord Venkateshwara Temple at Tirumala. With stoppages at all stations in the Rayalaseema region, the train aims to provide a seamless travel experience for devotees.
Minister Reddy emphasized the rapid expansion of the railway network nationwide in recent years. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, dedicated freight corridors have been established, and efforts are underway to achieve 100% electrification. Notably, electrification works in Andhra Pradesh are nearing completion, with 32 railway line projects covering approximately 5,074 km tracks currently in progress.
Discussing Vande Bharat trains, Minister Reddy highlighted that Andhra Pradesh has been equipped with semi-high-speed indigenous Vande Bharat trains, connecting key routes such as Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Tirupati, and Vijayawada-Chennai. These initiatives reflect the commitment to enhancing railway infrastructure and connectivity across the region.
