Choudhary, a Class 12 student from Chhattisgarh, had been preparing for the exam at a coaching institute in Kota, where he resided in a hostel for the past two years.

The discovery of Choudhary’s lifeless body hanging from the ceiling fan in the Jawahar Nagar area has raised concerns, marking the third such incident in Kota this year involving coaching students. The police, led by Circle Officer DSP Bhawani Singh, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Despite the release of the JEE-Main 2024 answer key and results, the police are yet to confirm the status of Choudhary’s exam outcomes. His parents, who reside in Chhattisgarh, are expected to arrive in Kota for the post-mortem examination after his body was found by the hostel warden.

This unfortunate incident sheds light on the challenges faced by students in Kota, a prominent coaching hub for engineering and medical aspirants. Disturbingly, the hostel room lacked an anti-suicide device on the fan, highlighting a potential lapse in safety measures.

As the authorities work to unravel the mystery behind Choudhary’s suspected suicide, it is a stark reminder of the mental health struggles that some students may face during the intense preparation for competitive exams. This tragedy underscores the need for enhanced support systems and mental health resources within coaching institutes to ensure the well-being of aspiring students.

The recent surge in reported suicides among coaching students in Kota is alarming, emphasizing the urgency for a comprehensive approach to address the mental health concerns of young aspirants.
