In a devastating incident in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, a passenger bus en route to Jammu met with a tragic accident, resulting in the loss of 38 lives and leaving 17 individuals injured. The mishap occurred as the bus, traveling from Kishtwar to Jammu, veered off the road and plunged 250 meters down a hill near Trungal in Doda district’s Assar area on Wednesday.

Doda Senior Superintendent of Police, Abdul Qayoom, who is overseeing the rescue operations, stated that the bus, covering a distance of 200km, tragically rolled down the hill. Local residents were among the first responders, managing to pull 17 survivors from the wreckage and promptly rushing them to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, some of the survivors are in critical condition.
The rescue operations are ongoing, and the authorities are diligently working to provide assistance to those affected by this heart-wrenching incident. With a total of 55 passengers on board, the accident has sent shockwaves through the community.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his deep condolences, conveying his sorrow at the loss of lives in the bus accident. In a social media post, he said, “I am extremely pained by the loss of lives in the bus accident. My heartfelt condolences to bereaved families & wishing for a speedy recovery of those injured in the accident. Directed Div Com & Dist Admin to provide all necessary assistance to affected persons.”
