In a shocking incident, 77-year-old Punjab businessman Narottam “Nims” Dhillon was discovered dead in his North Goa villa. Initial investigations suggest that he was smothered to death by a couple he had invited to stay with him at his Horizons Azure villa in Pilerne.
The Goa Police, in collaboration with the Mumbai Police, have detained the couple, identified as Neetu Rahuja and Jitendra Sahu, from Mumbai. The accused couple, last seen at the villa on Saturday night, was tracked down in a rented car heading towards Mumbai, with the number plates removed, possibly to evade police.
Dhillon’s staff made the grim discovery on Sunday, prompting a police response. The suspects, invited to the villa on Saturday night, are currently being questioned. The motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained.
Living in Goa since 2016, Dhillon was engaged in the hospitality business, residing in one villa and renting four others in the same complex to tourists. The tragic incident has led to a case of murder and robbery, as valuable jewelry was reportedly missing from the scene. The North Goa SP, Nidhin Valsan, assured that an FIR has been registered, and the investigation is narrowing down on the suspects.
With multiple injuries on Dhillon’s body, the police are conducting a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the crime. The businessman’s children have been informed about the incident, and further details are expected to emerge as the investigation unfolds.
