To accommodate the surge of passengers during the upcoming Kanda Sashti festival at the Subramaniaswamy Temple in Tiruchendur on November 18, the Southern Railway has announced the operation of express special trains between Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur. This strategic move aims to provide a hassle-free travel experience for devotees participating in the festivities.

As per the Southern Railway press release, the Tirunelveli-Tiruchendur express special, numbered 1 and 2, will ensure convenient travel schedules. Express special number 1 is scheduled to depart Tirunelveli at 12 noon, reaching Tiruchendur at 1.45 p.m. Meanwhile, express special number 2 will depart Tirunelveli at 1.30 p.m. and arrive at Tiruchendur at 3.15 p.m.
The train routes include essential stops at Palayamkottai, Seydunganallir, Thathankulam, Srivaikundam, Alwartirunagari, Nazareth, Kachchanavilai, Kurumbur, Arumuganeri, and Kayalpattinam, ensuring accessibility for passengers.
For those seeking late-night travel, Tirunelveli-Tiruchendur express special number 3 is scheduled to depart Tirunelveli at 11.30 p.m., reaching Tiruchendur at 12.45 a.m. This non-stop service provides an efficient option for nocturnal travel.
On the return journey, the Tiruchendur-Tirunelveli specials, numbered 1, 2, and 3, offer flexibility in departure times. Special number 1 will depart Tiruchendur at 9.15 a.m., reaching Tirunelveli at 10.50 a.m., with no intermediate stops. Special number 2 is scheduled for an evening departure from Tiruchendur at 7 p.m., arriving in Tirunelveli at 8.45 p.m.
