During the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, emphasized the company’s strong ties with Gujarat, stating, “Reliance was, is, and will always remain a Gujarati firm.”
Proudly proclaiming his identity as a Gujarati, Ambani commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi, acknowledging his global influence, and referred to him as the most successful prime minister in Indian history.
Ambani declared Reliance’s commitment to Gujarat’s growth story, highlighting the company’s substantial investments in the state over the past decade, totaling over Rs 12 lakh crore. More than one-third of this investment has been directed towards creating world-class assets and capacities in Gujarat alone.
Looking ahead, Ambani outlined Reliance’s plans to play a pivotal role in Gujarat’s future development with significant investments over the next decade. Specifically, the company aims to contribute to making Gujarat a global leader in green growth. Ambani announced Reliance’s commitment to assisting Gujarat in meeting half of its energy needs through renewable energy by 2030.
To realize this vision, Reliance has initiated the construction of the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex, spread over 5,000 acres in Jamnagar. This ambitious project is set to generate numerous green jobs, facilitate the production of sustainable products and materials, and position Gujarat as a leading exporter of green products. Ambani expressed readiness to commission this complex in the second half of 2024.
Elaborating on Reliance’s sustainable initiatives, Ambani shared plans to make Gujarat a pioneer in new materials and circular economy practices. He revealed the establishment of India’s first Carbon Fiber facility at Hazira, marking a significant step towards fostering sustainability and innovation in the region.
Reliance’s commitment to green growth in Gujarat aligns with the company’s broader vision for a sustainable future. As Ambani envisions, this initiative will not only drive economic development but also position Gujarat as a global leader in sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
