Ram Navami celebrations: Violent police batons set vehicles on fire in northern states

New Delhi, West Bengal A rally was held today in Shippur area of West Bengal’s Howrah on the occasion of Rama Navami. During this rally, a clash broke out between the two parties.

Ramnavami celebrations in various states across the country have been tense due to violence.

During this clash some people started throwing stones and attacking. There was also a lot of commotion as vehicles were set on fire there. Meanwhile, the police were gathered at the spot and tried to disperse the protest.

The police have been conducting a flag parade to reduce tension in the area. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that strict action will be taken against those who caused conflict in the Ram Navami rally.

Similarly, a pilgrimage took place today on the occasion of Rama Navami festival in Vadodara, Gujarat. When the pilgrim came near the mosque in Badepura, the incident of stone pelting took place in the violent conflict between the two sides. The informed police rushed to the spot. However, there is tension.

In Sambhaji, Maharashtra, vehicles were smashed and stone pelting took place. Recently the state government renamed Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Currently Muslims are observing Ramadan fast. Last night, youths were engaged in preparations to celebrate Ram Navami at the Ram temple at Kirtpura in the city.

Then there was an argument between the youths regarding the breakdown of a vehicle. As a result, both parties went and brought additional men. Youths of both religions clashed in this. It spread to others. As a result, many people stood on the road and threw stones at each other. More than 500 people were involved in this attack.

The police could not control the situation. Additional police were called. Stones were thrown at the police. Violent mobs torched vehicles parked on the roads. Regarding this, Police Commissioner Nikhil Gupta said, “This violence has occurred after some youths clashed. Joint action has been taken to arrest those involved in violence.

The violence lasted for an hour. Seven vehicles have been damaged. The burnt vehicles have been removed from the spot. No one has been arrested so far. However, 10 special forces have been set up to arrest those involved in violence,” he said. Additional police force has been deployed in the city for security.
