TMC MP Mahua Moitra has found herself in the midst of a storm of allegations involving bribes for posing questions in Parliament. The situation escalated as Nishikant Dubey, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, accused her of receiving monetary incentives from industrialist Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for her parliamentary inquiries.
In response to these allegations, Mahua Moitra took to social media to address and counter the claims made against her. The political exchange between the two MPs has garnered significant attention.
Dubey, the BJP MP, made serious accusations against Moitra, alleging that she posed questions in Parliament after receiving bribes from Darshan Hiranandani. He even asserted that Moitra’s parliamentary login credentials were accessed from Dubai, with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) providing this information to the investigating authorities.
Hiranandani himself admitted to providing Moitra with information for formulating questions that targeted the Adani Group. In a signed affidavit, he disclosed that he had gifted her “expensive luxury items” and financially supported the renovation of her official residence. Moreover, he claimed that Moitra shared her Parliament login and password with him, allowing him to post questions on her behalf.
In a swift response, Moitra posted on Saturday, “Request NIC to please release ALL details of MPs publicly to show they were physically present in the place from where IDs were accessed by their PAs & researchers/interns/staff. Don’t use Fake Degree wala for a leak, make this public NOW.”
She went on to add, “Also got a message about an impending CBI raid. I am busy with Durga Puja. I invite CBI to come home & count my pairs of shoes. But first, please file an FIR into the ₹13,000 crore coal money Adani stole from Indians.”
Moitra continued to express her position, stating, “Sorry Mr. Adani. I am not taking your deal to be silent for six months in return for ‘peace.’ And nor am I taking the second deal where I am allowed to attack you but not the PM. Adani used to CASH TO NOT QUESTION. Now he is forced to create fake CASH FOR QUESTIONS.”
She further raised concerns about national security, saying, “Unknown FPIs own Adani shares whose origin SEBI cannot find, and Adani gets MHA clearance to buy Mumbai airport. This is the real question of national security. Not email IDs that every PA & every unchecked intern team of every MP has publicly & accesses at will.”
The controversy surrounding these allegations and counterclaims has become a significant political talking point, attracting attention and scrutiny from various quarters.
