In this case, the Electricity Regulatory Commission has clarified that this information is wrong.

In this regard, in a notification issued by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Authority;- The opinion of the public has been sought regarding the proposed changes in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Supply Rules. Some misrepresentations in the media about these changes, such as imposing a penalty on accommodation fees, are completely false.

With effect from 10.09.2022, an order has been issued to exempt residences from levy of status fee. Exemption from payment of placement fee and then penalty on placement fee is incorrect.

Public comments can be submitted on the above draft rules. It has been informed that the final decision on the rules will be taken after considering the views submitted.
