Indian Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has unveiled prototype images of the highly anticipated Vande Bharat sleeper coaches, marking a significant development in the country’s railway infrastructure. These sleeper coaches are the result of a collaboration between the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML).
The Vande Bharat sleeper coaches, designed for an enhanced rail travel experience, are expected to be launched in early 2024, as mentioned by Ashwini Vaishnaw during the unveiling of the concept images. Last week, sources reported that these newly designed sleeper coaches will be rolled out by February 2024.
The concept images showcase a revolutionary approach to rail travel, featuring a classic wooden interior design and more comfortable seating. The coaches are equipped with ambient floor lighting and enhanced top lighting, creating an inviting and comfortable environment for passengers.
The Vande Bharat Express, India’s semi-high-speed indigenous train, made its debut in February 2019 when it was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Initially operating between New Delhi and Varanasi, the premium train quickly gained popularity.
It is anticipated that the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express will join the existing fleet of premium trains, offering travelers a comfortable and stylish way to explore India by rail.
In recent months, passenger feedback has driven improvements to the Vande Bharat trains. These enhancements include adjustments to the seat reclining angle and the incorporation of deep washbasins to prevent water from splashing, reflecting a commitment to providing a more comfortable and enjoyable journey for passengers.
