In a concerning turn of events, educational institutions within the Greater Chennai Police limits recently received bomb threat emails, leading to heightened security measures. Chennai’s Additional Commissioner of Police, Prem Anand Sinha, assured the public that there’s no immediate cause for panic as the emails appear to be a hoax.
A total of 13-14 schools across the city reported receiving these threatening emails. While the motives and origins of these emails remain unknown, ACP Prem Anand Sinha stated that, as of now, there are no specific demands mentioned in the messages.
The Greater Chennai City Police, in collaboration with the Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad (BDDS), swiftly initiated “Anti-Sabotage Checks” in the affected educational institutions. Their primary focus is on identifying the culprit behind these alarming emails.
Following the receipt of the threat emails, several schools took precautionary measures by closing early, urging parents to pick up their children promptly, as reported by The Hindu.
