The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out a raid on a prominent Bollywood production house on Friday, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation related to the Mahadev betting app case.
Sources from the ED reported that Qureshi Productions, the targeted production house, had received financial support from Mahadev app promoters Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal for the production of films.
Qureshi Productions, led by Vaseem and Tabassum Qureshi, is known for its involvement in the creation of a high-budget historical film featuring a top Bollywood star. The film is primarily being produced in a regional language but is intended to be dubbed into multiple other languages.
The raids conducted by the ED are currently taking place in Andheri and several other locations. Vaseem Qureshi, a key figure associated with the production house, is currently being questioned by the ED, and a thorough examination of his travel records and financial transactions is underway.
The online betting case investigation has cast a shadow over several notable Bollywood celebrities, including actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, and comedian Kapil Sharma. These celebrities are under the ED’s scrutiny as part of the larger probe into the online betting case.
The Mahadev Book app, an online betting platform, is at the center of the investigation being conducted by the ED and various state police departments. The company, which had operations based in Dubai, is alleged to have utilized the online book betting application for the recruitment of new users, creation of false identities, and money laundering through a complex network of undisclosed bank accounts.
