The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a notice to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over alleged disparaging remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media.
The ECI received a complaint on November 10 from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the social media posts in question. The BJP has alleged that the posts portrayed PM Modi in a “disparaging and insulting” manner.

The ECI referred to the AAP’s social media posts that allegedly linked PM Modi to industrialist Gautam Adani.
The ECI has reminded political parties and candidates to maintain dignity in electoral campaigning and refrain from personal attacks. The commission also noted that the AAP, being a national party, is expected to exercise caution before publishing and disseminating such content in the public domain.

The ECI has asked AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal to provide an explanation regarding the social media posts by November 16. Kejriwal has also been asked to explain why action for violating the model code of conduct should not be initiated against him.
