Mumbai: A 26-year-old music teacher employed at a suburban Mumbai school has been apprehended by law enforcement for alleged stalking and molestation of a 13-year-old female student. The incident was brought to light after the student informed her parents, who subsequently lodged a formal complaint with the police.
The accused, in addition to his actions at the school, reportedly made unwelcome advances towards the Class 7 student through social media, which she firmly rejected.
The student has leveled accusations of both physical assault and stalking against the teacher. The police swiftly responded to the complaint, resulting in the arrest of the accused late on Tuesday evening. He is now facing charges under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 354 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to violate her modesty) and 354-D (stalking), as well as provisions outlined in the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted by law enforcement authorities to further examine the case.
