This incident unfolded at Terminal 3, where the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police detained the co-founder of BharatPe and his wife. The intervention comes in the wake of a lookout circular (LoC) issued by the EOW in connection with a financial fraud case.
Sharing details of the incident, Grover explained that he had not received any communication from the probe agency until Friday. Despite having traveled internationally four times since the FIR was filed in May, this was the first instance of encountering a problem at immigration.
Grover expressed his surprise, emphasizing that he had not been summoned even once in the past. Despite the unusual circumstances, the EOW allowed them to leave, directing immigration to facilitate their exit so they could return home.
The 41-year-old entrepreneur disclosed that, as of 8 AM on Friday, he had not received any communication or summon from the EOW since the FIR was filed in May.
However, he acknowledged that the EOW summon was delivered to his home on Friday morning, pledging full cooperation, as he has done in the past.
Ashneer Grover, along with his relatives, faces accusations of utilizing fake invoices to divert over Rs 81 crore from BharatPe’s accounts for the payment of commissions related to recruitment activities.
