In a tragic incident in Bengaluru, a 23-year-old woman, Soundarya, and her nine-month-old daughter, Leela, lost their lives due to electrocution when they came in contact with a live 11 KV wire that had fallen on the footpath at Hope Farm Signal.

Responding promptly to the situation, Karnataka Energy Minister KJ George directed the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) to take immediate action.

Bescom has suspended five officials from the power supply department, including Assistant Executive Engineer Subramanya T, Assistant Engineer Chetan S, Junior Engineer Rajanna, Junior Powerman Manjunath Revanna, and Lineman Basavaraju. This decisive action was taken in response to the negligence that led to the tragic incident. A thorough investigation into the matter is set to be conducted to ensure accountability.

Furthermore, show-cause notices have been issued to two senior officers, Lokesh Babu, Superintending Engineer of the East Circle, and Sriramu, Executive Engineer of the Whitefield division. They are required to submit their responses to the notices within three days. The notices are a part of the comprehensive efforts to ascertain responsibility and prevent such incidents in the future.
