Natural UTI Relief: Coriander Seeds Water and Its Effectiveness in Alleviating Urinary Tract Infection

Published on

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) can be uncomfortable and painful, affecting various parts of the urinary system. In Ayurveda, coriander seeds, known as dhania, are suggested for their cooling properties, which can provide relief from the burning sensation during urination. These seeds also contain phytochemicals that contribute to preventing the risk of UTIs.

UTIs occur when bacteria from the skin or rectum enter the urethra and infect the urinary tract, with women being more susceptible due to shorter urethras. Symptoms include pain or burning sensation while urinating, frequent urination, and pressure in the lower abdomen. Seeking prompt medical attention is crucial when experiencing these signs.

Nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee recommends incorporating coriander seeds into the diet, emphasizing their effectiveness in treating UTIs. Coriander seeds can enhance the kidneys’ filtration rate, reduce water retention, and facilitate the flushing out of toxins and microbes, promoting a clean urinary system. Additionally, these seeds possess anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, aiding in the reduction of inflammation and pain associated with UTIs.

To make coriander seeds water:

  1. Soak one tablespoon of coriander seeds overnight in about 1.5 cups of water.
  2. Strain the water and consume it the next morning.

While coriander seeds water may help alleviate the burning sensation during urination, it is essential to note that it is not considered a cure for UTIs. Medical advice should be sought, and appropriate treatment protocols, such as antibiotics, should be followed if diagnosed with a urinary tract infection.
