Vijay’s “Leo” Tops Advance Booking Charts in the UK, Outshining “Ponniyin Selvan I” Vijay’s upcoming Tamil film, “Leo,” is gearing up for a grand release, and its advance booking numbers in the UK are already breaking records. The film, which reunites Vijay with director Lokesh Kanagaraj after the 2021 blockbuster “Master,” has surpassed the previous advance booking record set by Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan I.”
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the exciting news on Saturday, stating, “Vijay: ‘Leo’ setting new benchmarks… #ThalapathyVijay’s #Leo is shattering records #Overseas. Distributed in #UK and #Europe by #AhimsaEntertainment, with 19 days left, the film has already taken the #Tamil Day 1 #BO crown in #UK from the previously held #PS1. #Leo is targeting to surpass the current single-day earnings for an INDIAN film in #UK, a record presently held by #Pathaan.”
“Leo” is generating significant buzz not only in the UK but also worldwide. The film is set to release on October 19 and will be available in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada versions as well.
The cast of “Leo” boasts an impressive lineup, including Trisha Krishnan, who reunites with Vijay after their successful collaborations in Tamil hits like “Ghilli,” “Kuruvi,” “Thirupaachi,” and “Aathi.” Additionally, Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt will make his Tamil film debut in “Leo.” The film also features Arjun Sarja, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Mysskin, and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
The music for “Leo” is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, known for his work on Vijay’s previous hit films such as “Kaththi,” “Master,” and “Beast.”
While the audio launch event for “Leo” was initially scheduled for September 30, it had to be canceled due to the overwhelming demand for passes and safety concerns. The production banner Seven Screen Studio clarified that the cancellation was not due to political pressure or other reasons.
As the anticipation for “Leo” continues to build, unique promotional campaigns are underway. Limited-edition Bisleri packs featuring the “Leo” coin will be available in 500ml, 1-liter, and 2-liter SKUs across Tamil Nadu and Kerala, adding to the excitement surrounding the film’s release.
