Recently, speculations emerged, suggesting that the production of Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming film might face a setback due to budget constraints. Reports circulated that the project, initially announced in January last year, might be shelved, casting doubts on the collaboration between Vijay and director Gowtam Tinnanuri, known for the successful sports drama Jersey.
Vijay Deverakonda, whose last appearance in Puri Jagannadh’s Liger received a lukewarm response at the box office, has been maintaining a low profile. The rumors intensified regarding his collaboration with Gowtam Tinnanuri, as there were minimal updates since the film went on floors in June of the same year.
Telugu 360 reported on X that the film might not see the light of day due to budget constraints, and the big-budget actioner could be shelved. However, Vijay’s team swiftly refuted these claims. One team member stated, “Not true…!! Shoot will resume very soon. #VD12,” and another added, “Not true. The shoot will restart as soon as #FamilyStar shoot is done. The schedule is being planned from the first week of March 2024.”
About #VD12: Gowtam Tinnanuri’s upcoming film, referred to as #VD12, follows the success of the Telugu and Hindi versions of the sports drama Jersey. Initially featuring Vijay and Sreeleela in lead roles, rumors suggest a change in the cast, with Vijay’s alleged girlfriend Rashmika Mandanna possibly stepping in. Despite the buzz, an official announcement from the makers is awaited. The period drama will showcase Vijay in the role of a spy, with intriguing posters already generating interest among the audience. Shooting is set to resume in March, once Vijay fulfills his current commitments.
Vijay Deverakonda’s filmography includes plans for another project directed by Puri, titled JGM. However, the project is currently on hold post-Liger. Puri is also collaborating with Ram Pothineni for the sequel to iSmart Shankar, titled Double iSmart.
Meanwhile, Vijay is actively involved in the shooting of Family Star, directed by Parasuram Petla and featuring Mrunal Thakur. Initially slated for a Sankranthi release, the film’s schedule adjustments have pushed its release to the summer. Despite the challenges, Vijay’s fans eagerly anticipate the actor’s return to the silver screen.
