Sunny Deol appeared on Karan Johar’s iconic talk show alongside his brother, Bobby Deol. During his conversation with KJo, he candidly recounted, “I asked him, ‘please don’t do it if it’s in your hands,’ but he said, ‘no, the studio and all that’… and they said, ‘anyway, two films can release,’ so I just said, ‘okay, go ahead. I can only request; I can’t do anything more than that.'”
Reflecting on the significant clash at the box office, Sunny expressed, “It’s a very emotional thing, if you ask me, frankly, because I thought my film was releasing, and I haven’t had success for years. I didn’t want anybody else to come along with it, but you can’t stop anybody, so obviously it does hurt you. But then I said, ‘Does it matter?’ Let’s go along with it.”
Sunny’s Gadar 2 made a triumphant entry at the box office, amassing an astonishing Rs 515.03 crore in just a month. The film not only emerged as the second-highest-grossing Hindi film but also surpassed the lifetime collections of the Hindi version of Prabhas’ Baahubali 2.
Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 featured Utkarsh Sharma and Ameesha Patel in leading roles. On the other hand, OMG 2 also witnessed a resounding response from audiences, raking in over Rs 120 crores in the Indian box office. The film starred Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles, further adding to its appeal.
