Shah Rukh Khan’s Security Boosted to Y+ Category Amid Alleged Threats

Published on

Recently, the security detail for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been upgraded to the Y+ category by the Maharashtra government. This significant increase in security measures comes in response to alleged death threats that the actor has reported.

Shah Rukh Khan, often referred to as the “King of Bollywood,” lodged an official complaint with the Maharashtra government, citing that he had been receiving menacing death threats. These threats reportedly surfaced following the release of his films “Pathan” and “Jawan.”

The Maharashtra State Intelligence Department (SID) took swift action upon receiving Shah Rukh Khan’s complaint. According to sources, the SID issued an official communication on October 5 to various law enforcement entities, including police commissionerates, district police, and special protection units (SPUs) across the state. The directive called for providing Y+ category security with an escort scale to Khan immediately.

The decision to bolster Shah Rukh Khan’s security stemmed from credible and perceived threats to his safety. Under the Y+ category, the actor will be safeguarded by a team of 11 security personnel, including six commandos, four police officers, and a dedicated traffic clearance vehicle. These security personnel will be stationed at Mannat, the actor’s residence in Mumbai.

This development marks the second time this year that Shah Rukh Khan’s security has been enhanced. Earlier, in response to protests targeting the actor, security measures around Mannat were beefed up. Notably, these protests were related to celebrities endorsing online gaming applications. In March, two individuals attempted to gain access to Mannat by scaling its outer wall, but they were promptly apprehended by security personnel.

On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in “Jawan,” a film that has achieved significant success, grossing ₹1103.27 crore at the worldwide box office. Directed by Atlee, the movie, released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on September 7, also featured Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, and Sanjay Dutt in special appearances.

Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming projects include “Dunki,” directed by Rajkumar Hirani and co-starring Taapsee Pannu. The actor continues to captivate audiences with his performances and remains an iconic figure in the world of Indian cinema.
