In an extraordinary accomplishment that has left a significant mark on Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster movie ‘Jawan’ has reached a historic milestone, becoming the first Hindi film ever to cross the monumental Rs 1100 crore mark at the global box office.
The production house Red Chillies proudly made the announcement on their official social media platforms, revealing that the SRK-starrer had amassed an astounding estimated total of Rs 1103 crore in worldwide box office collections.
With a brand new poster, Red Chillies captioned their post with pride, stating, “The first Hindi film in the history of Indian cinema to cross 1100 Cr GBOC worldwide.”
They further added, “Jawan Making & breaking box office records every day!”
The news of this remarkable box office milestone coincided with exclusive photos captured by ETimes, featuring the superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, departing the city in the company of his family. Spotted at the Kalina airport, Shah Rukh Khan was joined by his wife, Gauri Khan, and their daughter, Suhana Khan. The Khan family, dressed casually in denims and tees, made their way into the airport without stopping for photographs as they prepared to board their flight.
Congratulating SRK on his monumental success at the box office, actor Akshay Kumar expressed that the triumph of films like “Jawan” and “Gadar 2” bodes well for the film industry. He remarked, “I hope the industry gives more and more hits. I was very happy when Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ did so much business. There are many other films like ‘Gadar 2’, ‘OMG 2’, which also did well. So, it’s very good for the industry,” in a conversation with PTI.
Akshay Kumar also shared his aspiration for Indian cinema to reach new heights, saying, “It’s a great thing that Rs 1,000 crore is a benchmark. I also hope that we make Rs 2000-3000 crore films. Then we can also make Hollywood (kind of) films. The kind of cinema, the screenplay, the script that we have, they don’t have (it).”
The Hindi film industry faced significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with theaters shuttered and box office collections affected. However, the remarkable success of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ has rekindled hope and positivity within the industry.
