In a candid revelation, Rashmika Mandanna shares her intense experience while filming a pivotal scene in the blockbuster movie, Animal, where she played Ranbir Kapoor’s betrayed wife.
The actress, who portrayed the character Gitanjali, opened up about the emotional aftermath of a scene where she slaps her onscreen husband, played by Ranbir Kapoor.
Recalling the intense moment, Rashmika reveals, “The whole sequence was one take because there was a lot of moving. It wasn’t predictable. I didn’t know what I was going to do. Sandeep told me just to feel how a person in this situation would feel. I remember only this. I don’t remember anything between the action and the cut. I just can’t process it. My brain was just going blank.”
In the gripping scene, Gitanjali slaps her husband Rannvijay after he confesses to sleeping with another character, Zoya, played by Triptii Dimri. The revelation leads to a dramatic confrontation between the onscreen couple.
Reflecting on the emotional intensity of the scene, Rashmika also shares how she cared for Ranbir Kapoor after the shoot, saying, “After the sequence, I was crying for real. I have slapped him, I am screaming, the chaos is happening, and I go to Ranbir, and I am like, ‘Was that okay? Are you okay?’ We finished that sequence in half a day. I loved it, and at that moment, I realised that this is the high of being an actor. People don’t write sequences like this every time. I am so glad that I did this movie and this sequence. I was surprised with myself.”
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal, released on December 1, has achieved massive success, grossing over ₹900 crore worldwide.
The film explores a violent world entangled in the complex relationship between Rannvijay Singh, played by Ranbir Kapoor, and his father, portrayed by Anil Kapoor.
Despite its success, Animal has faced criticism for its portrayal of misogyny and intense violence, sparking debates among viewers and critics alike.
