Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious project, the film adaptation of the epic Ramayana, has been generating immense anticipation within the Hindi film industry. With the latest development, the eagerly awaited Ramayana will feature Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash in pivotal roles. While Alia Bhatt was initially cast, the makers opted for Sai Pallavi instead.
Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ has become one of the most talked-about projects in the Indian film industry. Back in 2020, producer Madhu Mantena revealed plans for a grand trilogy based on the Indian epic, ‘Ramayana,’ with Nitesh Tiwari at the helm as the director. Finally, the project is set to take off with the full cast in place. Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi have been chosen for the lead roles, and filming is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2024.
According to a report from Pinkvilla, the production team is actively working on the film’s VFX components. The report states, “Nitesh Tiwari and his team have been diligently crafting the world of Ramayana, and the blueprint is now fully prepared. The VFX work is being handled by the Oscar-winning company, DNEG, promising to create a world that will astonish audiences. However, the strength of Ramayana lies not only in its visual appeal but also in its simple storytelling and compelling character interactions.”
Ranbir Kapoor is set to portray the character of Ram, Sai Pallavi will play Sita, and Yash will take on the role of Ravana. The report goes on to mention, “Ranbir and Sai are scheduled to commence filming for the movie in February 2024. The first part of the trilogy will focus primarily on Lord Ram and Sita, building up to the Sita Haran conflict. They will continue shooting until August 2024, completing Ramayana: Part One.”
The source also revealed, “Yash will have an extended appearance in Ramayana: Part One, but his character will take center stage in the second part, which is set in Sri Lanka. He has allocated 15 days for the shoot of Ramayana: Part One.”
Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar will co-direct the film, and the shooting is expected to wrap up by July 2024.
