The resounding success of Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Jailer’ continues to dominate the box office charts, with its fifth-day collections reflecting an unwavering momentum. As the nation commemorates Independence Day, the film is poised to cross the remarkable milestone of Rs 450 crore in global revenue, reaffirming its position as a cinematic juggernaut.
‘Stellar Performance’ Becomes the Mantra for ‘Jailer’
In a whirlwind of captivating cinema, ‘Jailer,’ helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar and featuring the iconic Rajinikanth in the lead role, continues to blaze its trail in the realm of box office triumphs. Following its astounding weekend debut, amassing a staggering Rs 150 crore domestically, the film remains undeterred by competitive forces, reinforcing its commitment to enthralling audiences.
The fifth day of release witnessed an estimated earnings of Rs 28 crore, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk. The anticipated surge on Independence Day itself is expected to propel ‘Jailer’ into the coveted Rs 450-crore club in global box office collections.
Monday’s figures demonstrate a remarkable progression, surpassing the initial earnings of Friday (Rs 25.75 crore), underscoring the consistent upward trajectory of ‘Jailer.’
According to projections by Sacnilk, the film is anticipated to rake in around Rs 38 crore on Tuesday, leveraging the auspicious occasion of Independence Day to its advantage and solidifying its extraordinary box office performance.
The movie’s resonance is further amplified by an impressive 63 percent Tamil occupancy rate on its debut Friday. Notably, the day saw a gradual increase in occupancy percentages as the hours progressed – starting from 37.06 percent for morning shows, surging to 59.03 percent for afternoon screenings, reaching a substantial 72.84 percent for evening shows, and culminating at an impressive 83.07 percent for night screenings.
Beyond domestic shores, the film has marked its presence in international markets, with a notable achievement of $180K in the United States on August 14, as reported by industry tracker Ramesh Bala. The film’s global footprint extends to regions such as the US, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, Europe, Sri Lanka, and other territories, collectively contributing to its monumental success.
As ‘Jailer’ etches its legacy, the only contender in its league is Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2,’ which has secured a commendable Rs 173.88 crore in domestic earnings and is poised for a Rs 55-crore addition on Independence Day, bolstering its cumulative India net earnings to Rs 228.88 crore.
Amid accolades and celebrations, Rajinikanth’s Himalayan sojourn keeps him away from the film’s triumphant moments. Yet, the actor’s fervor radiates as he offers prayers in Badrinath and graces Uttarakhand with his presence.
Notably, the August 11-13 weekend marked a post-pandemic resurgence, witnessing an impressive 2.10 crore admissions – a historic high over the last decade. ‘Jailer,’ alongside ‘Gadar 2,’ ‘OMG 2,’ and ‘Bhola Shankar,’ contributed to this feat, collectively amassing a monumental Rs 390 crore during this period.
