Directed by Shaana Levy and Uraaz Bahl, the series dives into the sensational 2015 case involving Indrani Mukerjea, a prominent media executive, and socialite, accused of killing her daughter Sheena Bora.

A Glimpse into the Series The series promises to unravel unsettling family secrets, featuring chilling phone recordings between Indrani, her then-husband Peter Mukerjea, and Rahul Mukerjea, providing new perspectives on the case. Alongside these revelations, previously unseen family photos will be showcased, adding an extra layer of depth to the narrative.

From Memoir to Docuseries Mukerjea’s memoir, “Unbroken: The Untold Story,” published in July 2023, offers a comprehensive background, detailing her life journey, rise as a media mogul, and experiences in Byculla jail during the seven-year case. The docuseries is set to bring these accounts to life, creating a visual narrative that goes beyond the pages of her memoir.

Complex Relationship History Exploring Mukerjea’s intricate relationship history, the series delves into her marriages, relocations, and the introduction of Sheena Bora as her younger sister in Mumbai. This contextual background provides viewers with insights into the dynamics that set the stage for the unfolding tragedy.

Recap: Bora’s Mysterious Disappearance Detailing the events leading to the shocking case, the series revisits Sheena Bora’s mysterious disappearance in 2012. From her abrupt leave from work to the breakup SMS received by her then-boyfriend Rahul, the circumstances surrounding her absence raised questions that went unanswered for years.

Arrest and Shocking Revelations The narrative takes a dramatic turn with Indrani Mukerjea’s arrest in August 2015, linked to her former driver, Shyamvar Rai, who confessed to his involvement in Bora’s murder. The docuseries unfolds the shocking revelations made during questioning, implicating Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, and Rai in the alleged crime.

Unearthing the Truth: Bora’s Body Found The series unveils the grim discovery of Sheena Bora’s decomposed body, buried in a forest in the Raigad district. Despite the body remaining unidentified for three years, Rai’s alleged disclosure eventually led to the revelation of the buried truth.

CBI’s Allegations and Legal Proceedings Examining the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) allegations, the docuseries explores the claimed motive behind Bora’s murder. The subsequent arrests of Peter Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna, along with charges filed against all involved parties, set the stage for a complex legal battle that commenced in January-February 2017.

The Journey to Bail: A Prolonged Legal Saga The series concludes with an update on the legal saga, including the trial’s progress, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on proceedings, and the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Indrani Mukerjea in 2022—nearly six and a half years after her initial custody.
