Nayanthara, a highly acclaimed actress in the South Indian film industry, recently launched her own skincare brand, “9 Skin.” However, the pricing of her skincare products has ignited disappointment and criticism among netizens.
Despite her immense popularity and a net worth estimated at around Rs 200 Crore, Nayanthara’s skincare line unveiled five products, all falling within the price range of Rs 1000-1500 for relatively small quantities. For instance, the nourishing oil is priced at Rs 999, while an anti-aging serum ranges from Rs 1000-15000. This pricing strategy has led many of her fans to express their concerns and disappointment on her recent Instagram post.
One comment on her post reads, “I didn’t expect such high prices… every product is above 1k.” Another comment humorously states, “9skin is not a brand… 9thara is the brand.”
However, amidst the criticism, some individuals have come to her defense. They argue that Nayanthara has every right to set her brand’s prices as she sees fit, especially on her own promotional platform.
Nayanthara launched her skincare brand on September 14 with a promo video, announcing that the products would be available for purchase from September 29. In her announcement, she emphasized the uniqueness of her products, backed by a combination of natural ingredients and modern science with nano-technology.
Despite the controversy surrounding her skincare brand’s pricing, Nayanthara remains a prominent figure in the film industry, with numerous projects in her pipeline, including “Paattu,” “Lady Superstar 75,” “The Test,” “Iraivan,” “Dear Students,” and “Thani Oruvan 2,” following her Bollywood debut in “Jawan” alongside Shah Rukh Khan, a film that has already crossed the Rs 1000 Crore mark globally.
