Jane Dipika Garrett, representing Nepal, is making history as the first plus-size woman to grace the Miss Universe 2023 stage. At 22 years old, Jane proudly identifies as part American and positions herself as an advocate for body positivity.
In an exclusive interview with Hola magazine, Jane expressed her commitment to representing all women, stating, “As a curvy woman who doesn’t follow certain beauty standards, I’m here to represent all women.”
Her presence, however, stirred controversy, with some questioning her participation due to not conforming to the conventional zero-size figure associated with beauty pageants.
The groundbreaking event is scheduled to take place at the Hose Adolfo Pineda Arena in El Salvador on November 18, featuring contestants from 90 different countries.
The inclusion of transgender women, plus-size models, and mothers marks a significant step forward in the pageant world, promoting inclusivity and celebrating the diverse beauty that exists among women worldwide.
