Kriti Sanon is elated as she prepares to receive her first national award for her exceptional performance in the film ‘Mimi.’ She graced the awards ceremony, looking ethereal in a white saree, and shared her feelings about this significant achievement. It’s worth noting that the award recipients were announced on August 24.
In a conversation with a national channel, Kriti expressed her gratitude and the profound significance of this recognition. She said, “Firstly, this journey hasn’t been swift. It has taken me about 9 years to reach this prestigious point, and winning a national award within a decade is a tremendous achievement. I feel blessed and fortunate to have had the opportunity to work on ‘Mimi.’ Sometimes, you don’t come across films with such depth and layered characters so easily, and I’m grateful that my producer and director believed in me. I’m feeling extremely elated today.”
Reflecting on ‘Mimi’ as a special film, Kriti added, “I had a gut feeling that this film would be extraordinary right from the start. The story, the character, everything about it resonated with me. Sometimes, you just know in your heart that it’s the right project.
‘Mimi’ felt exactly like that. While shooting for it, every scene we did, regardless of the film’s fate or the results, felt like a special moment in my life, and in everyone’s life involved in the project. During the filming, my director, Laxman Utekar, told me that I would receive a national award for ‘Mimi.’ I get goosebumps every time I mention this. The national award is a dream for any actor.
You often think you’d be overshadowed by the prestige of the national award. At that time, I used to say that I haven’t received any awards, and you’re talking about the national award, but that was his belief. Even my producer, Dinesh Vijan, always had immense faith in me.”
Kriti also shared her admiration for her co-star Pankaj Tripathi, who won the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in ‘Mimi.’ She said, “Some of the most special films in my career have been alongside Pankaj sir. I have great fondness for him. I’m thrilled that he also won the award for Best Supporting Actor in ‘Mimi,’ and our equation on set is fantastic. There’s a lot of respect, comfort, and a great deal to learn from him. I’m genuinely eager to collaborate with him again.”
In ‘Mimi,’ Kriti Sanon shared the screen with Pankaj Tripathi and an ensemble cast that included Supriya Pathak, Manoj Pahwa, and Sai Tamhankar. This national award is a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft.
