Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s Rani Mukerji and Kajol weren’t close despite being cousins back in the early 2000s. They reveal what changed.
In the recent Koffee With Karan, Rani Mukerji shared that she used to chat more with Aishwarya Rai than her own cousin and co-star, Kajol, during the start of her career. Kajol explained that the distance between them felt natural but has now been bridged.
They described it as “an organic distance.” Host Karan Johar pondered about their lack of interaction, to which Kajol responded, explaining that work kept them occupied separately, and they were content where they were.
Rani reminisced about their childhood, highlighting how Kajol was more connected with the boys of the family while she, along with Tanisha, was closer. However, after their fathers passed away, their bond strengthened, fostering a deeper friendship.
Nowadays, the cousins share a much stronger relationship. Recently, they were seen together at Durga Puja celebrations in Mumbai, engaging with the media and photographers.
Having collaborated in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, a film that celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, they reflected on their shared experiences from those days and the film’s enduring impact on subsequent generations.
Rani’s most recent appearance was in Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway, while Kajol starred in the web series The Trial.
