Kangana Ranaut’s latest Tamil film, “Chandramukhi 2,” which also stars Raghava Lawrence, has experienced a notable dip in its box office performance following the conclusion of its extended opening weekend.
The film, in which Kangana Ranaut takes on the titular role, recorded a collection of ₹2 crore on Tuesday, as reported by early estimates shared on Sacnilk.com. The extended weekend, which included Gandhi Jayanti on Monday, came to an end with this subdued performance.
The box office numbers for “Chandramukhi 2” reveal an average performance overall. According to the portal, the film registered a 13.10 percent occupancy in Tamil-speaking regions and a 16.71 percent occupancy in Telugu-speaking areas. The total collection for the movie over its first six days now stands at ₹31 crore.
While the film opened on Thursday with a decent ₹8.25 crore, it struggled to maintain the same momentum throughout the extended weekend. Although it saw a slight improvement on Sunday, with collections reaching ₹6.8 crore, it failed to show any significant growth.
Directed by P Vasu, “Chandramukhi 2” serves as the sequel to the blockbuster Tamil horror-comedy “Chandramukhi,” which starred Rajinikanth and Jyothika. In addition to Kangana Ranaut and Raghava Lawrence, the film features a cast that includes Lakshmi Menon, Vadivelu, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Mahima Nambiar, Srushti Dange, Subiksha Krishnan, Mithun Shyam, Ayyappa P. Sharma, Sengottaiyan, and Ravi Mariya.
The movie was released on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and hit screens in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. It faced competition from other releases like “Fukrey 3” and Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Vaccine War.”
“Chandramukhi 2” tells the story of a family moving into a mansion, with a specific warning to avoid the south block, known as Chandramukhi’s residence. Kangana portrays a dancer in the king’s court, renowned for her beauty and dance skills, while Raghava Lawrence takes on the role of King Vettaiyan Raja. The film is produced by Lyca Productions and Subaskaran.
As for Kangana Ranaut, she is now gearing up for her upcoming release, “Tejas,” in which she plays the role of an Air Force pilot.
