Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira Khan, who is preparing to tie the knot with Nupur Shikhare in January of the coming year, recently shared a heartwarming account of how Nupur played a crucial role in helping her navigate through her battle with depression. In a candid conversation with India Today, Ira expressed her deep gratitude for Nupur’s unwavering support during her difficult times.
Ira described Nupur as a patient and emotionally resilient partner, highlighting how he provided her with the space and comfort she needed. She fondly shared, “He held space for me, and I think he had the emotional bandwidth. He complains that I call him a sorted person. I don’t know how he figured out what to do. He just waited, and he just took his time and was patient with me. There have been times when I was behaving like a really unwell 3-year-old or 6-year-old. He had to literally take care of me.”
While Nupur stood by Ira during her struggles, she also addressed the challenges of dealing with online negativity. Ira acknowledged the privilege that comes with her background but recognized that it often attracts criticism. She candidly admitted, “The privilege, it’s obvious, it’s there. I know it’s there. I fully understand why people get irritated with me and put angry comments on my Instagram. I don’t read them, but I’ve been told there are lots of mean things in my Instagram comments.”
Furthermore, Ira offered insights into her wedding plans, revealing her preference for a cold and picturesque setting. She humorously stated, “I hate the heat; I cannot stand the heat. So my only criteria for the wedding was that it has to be in a cold place, and there has to be a cliff or a water body.”
As Ira Khan prepares to embark on this new chapter in her life, her openness about her personal struggles and the unwavering support of her partner serve as a testament to the strength of their relationship. For more news and updates, stay tuned to ETimes.
