Renowned music composer Ilaiyaraaja is mourning the loss of his daughter, Bhavatharini, who passed away on January 25 at the age of 47 in Sri Lanka. In a heartfelt post on his social media handle, Ilaiyaraaja shared a poignant throwback photo from Bhavatharini’s childhood, capturing a tender moment between father and daughter.
In the black and white snapshot, Ilaiyaraaja, wearing a kurta and headphones, is seen sharing something from a book with his daughter. The emotional caption, written in Tamil, simply reads “Dear daughter.”

Bhavatharini had traveled to Sri Lanka for treatment and spent five months undergoing Ayurvedic therapy. Unfortunately, her health did not improve, and she passed away on Thursday at 5:20 PM. Her mortal remains were brought back to Chennai the following day.
At 47, Bhavatharini had made significant contributions to the film industry, lending her voice to numerous popular songs in over 30 films. Her untimely demise has deeply saddened the entertainment world.
Kamal Haasan, expressing his grief, shared a heartfelt tribute in Tamil on his social media, acknowledging the pain Ilaiyaraaja is going through. He vowed to support his beloved brother through this difficult time, emphasizing the irreplaceable loss of Bhavatharini.
Bhavatharini made her debut as a playback singer in the film “Rasayya,” where her song became a massive hit. She continued to collaborate with her father and brothers, as well as other artists like Deva and Sirpi.
